Nothing on this site is financial, legal, insurance or engineering advice, and it is not a substitute for a licensed professional assessing your specific property. Conditions, codes, licensing rules and prices vary by state, county and property. Verify anything you intend to rely on with the primary source and with a qualified professional.

Accuracy and dates

We source factual claims to government agencies, code bodies, trade standards and published research, and we date material that is time-sensitive. Rules and prices still change. Where a page carries a “checked” date, that is the date the claim was last verified, not a promise it is still current when you read it.
